Iphone, Welcome to Clearbrook, Minnesota!
My first appearance after Miss America was the Miss Coon Rapids pageant. I was so excited to attend since I could not attend last year when I was Miss Twin Cities. After catching up on my much needed rest after Las Vegas, I was ready to perform, unfortunately two days before the Miss Coon Rapids pageant I developed a terrible sinus infection and lost my voice completely. Although I was unable to sing, it was fun seeing all the local titleholders, directors, and supporters from Minnesota. We had a special treat for the audience as the reigning Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Jeanette Morelan sang a beautiful rendition of, The Climb. I am more and more impressed with Jeanette every time I see her! Congratulations to Allison Lordbock our new Miss Coon Rapids. We only have one pageant left until all of our girls are crowned for the upcoming Miss Minnesota pageant in June !
On March 13th I will be dancing in this years Dancing with the Twin Cities’ Celebrities. The event is a charity ball for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. If you are interested in attending here is a link with more information and where to you can purchase tickets!

I met my dance teacher, Nate, two weeks ago and we have been dancing almost every day together! I am starting to get use to all the new steps I have to learn: I have never experienced ballroom dancing before this, so you are all in for a treat! It is quite the challenge, thank goodness I have a wonderful teacher. I will keep you posted on my progress!
Along with dancing, I have been helping out at Saint Agnes School in St. Paul with their Singathon. It is a five hour long event where the students perform and raise money for their choral department. This year’s theme…MUSICAL THEATRE! Right down my alley. I worked with students individually on their performances and how to be drama kings and queens.
This past weekend I was invited up to Clearbrook, Minnesota for their Clearbrook Centennial Celebration. My dad and I left at nine in the morning and drove five and a half hours north. Clearbrook was worth every minute of that drive. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with open arms. I was taken to the tea party for all the contestants, and judges. It was fun getting to know everyone and I enjoyed a wonderful cup of Green tea. For about an hour I lost my Dad! When I did find him he was in good hands. The senior’s helping serve the food for the tea party had taken my dad into the other room, and treated him like royalty as he enjoyed tea and cookies and sharing stories with all the seniors! He loved getting to know all of them, and was quite the hit of the day.
After going over all of the logistics for the pageant that evening, my dad and I went to The Piper’s Inn to put our things down and get ready. When I walked into my hotel room, my jaw dropped. I had a suite all to myself. I reached into my bag to grab my camera, turn it on… and realized my battery was dead, I forgot to charge it since returning from Miss America! Thank goodness for iphones! In the one corner of the room was a giant king size bed, in another corner about 3 couches, and my favorite corner… the Jacuzzi.
On the table in the middle of the room was a welcome card, newspaper story on my appearance, gift basket with their famous wild rice, and a purse with my initials! I later found out the purse was hand made by a committee members sister!
In my dad’s room was a gift for him too! A Clearbrook wind jacket! For dinner we were instructed to call the local pizza place, DaRoo’s. They delivered to our hotel room, and even brought me my own DaRoo’s Pizza sweatshirt!
The women running the Clearbrook Pageant were extremely organized and amazing. I received a script that was hightlighted where I needed to speak (I was the emcee) and they provided me with phonetic spelling so I could pronounce everyone’s name correctly. They didn’t miss a beat !! Right before the event began I was able to meet with all the other visiting royalty including Joanna Endrizzi, Miss Marshall County and Kaitlyn Maurstad, Miss Thief River Falls. I cannot wait to hang out with them again during Miss Minnesota week.
The pageant began and all the candidates and royalty were escorted in by the local firefighters. Then I introduced all the women running for Grand Lady of Clearbrook and Miss Clearbrook Centennial. This was my first time performing since Miss America, and it felt so good to be back on the stage. The whole pageant was so much fun and Congratulations to Norma Olson, Grand Lady of Clearbrook and Kaylah Nyegaard, Miss Clearbrook Centennial! I told Kaylah after the pageant that since I drove 6 hours to her pageant she has to drive 6 hours to watch Miss Minnesota! She agreed!
After the pageant we enjoyed cake, coffee, lemonade and socializing. I had a blast getting to know all the families in Clearbrook! Then the mayor surprised me with another sweatshirt!
My dad and I were up the next morning at five AM to drive home… Did I mention it was my Dad’s Birthday? Yea, he is superman. We kept one another company, talking about fun stories from the night before and listening to DJ Bubble’s on the radio.
As soon as I got home, I had to get ready for the Saint Agnes Singathon. I had joked with the students that if they were not dramatic during their song I would throw marshmallows at them. Who knew that the marshmallows would be such a hit! After every performances all the kids would throw marshmallows, it was our way of saying good job!
Congratulations to the Saint Agnes Choir for raising over $8,500 for their choral department. It was such a blessing to work with all of you. I was incredibly proud of all the performances and how hard you worked.
Tomorrow is National Pancake Day! I will be at the Bloomington Ihop from 7-12PM and then the Apple Valley IHOP from 4-6PM. Make sure to stop by and get your free stack of pancakes and make a kind donation to Children’s Miracle Network. Our goal is to raise 1.75 million across the country!
Always
Brooke
